BARTON ON SEA TRIUMPH IN BOTH
THE QUAICH AND THE GLENFARCLAS AWARD

Barton on Sea recorded a superb stableford score of 42 points in tough conditions to win The Sportsman's Charity Quaich on the opening day of the 2008 Championships over the Eden Course at St Andrews. They continued their steady form on day 2 at the Dukes course to lift the Glenfarclas Award for the best Aggregate over the two days. Kendal won the Kingsbarns Cup for the best score on day 2 with a sparkling 41 points.

The prize Giving Dinner was held in Old Course restaurant in Rusacks Hotel over-looking the famous 18th with a background of the game's greatest players. A reception hosted by St Andrews Ales was followed by a dinner of traditional Scottish fare with a witty toast to St Andrews from Professor David Purdie and a Glenfarclas Malt Whisky tasting under the tutelage of Ian McWilliam.
